President Obama comes to Williamsburg Thursday

without comments

The White House Press Office has confirmed that President Barack Obama will travel to Virginia on Thursday for the first time since taking the oath of office. He will speak that the annual retreat for Democratic Members of the House of Representatives. The event is held annually at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa in James City County.

This event is a political one and not designed for glad-handing with everyday folks, so Mr. Obama may not have much interaction with the general public.

President George W. Bush was the guest of House Democrats a couple of times and visited Williamsburg for this exact reason in 2007. He swept in and out of Central Virginia quickly. Expect the current President’s visit to be similar.

We’ll update you when we learn more.
