Barack Obama to campaign and raise money for Creigh Deeds
It was just a matter of time and now it is official. President Barack Obama, who recently appeared in support of New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s re-election bid will make his way to Northern Virginia in support of the only other Democratic candidate for Governor in 2009.
Sen. Creigh Deeds and President Obama will appear in together at a rally and fundraiser at the McLean Hilton on August 6th. The Associated Press’ Bob Lewis broke the story and here is his dispatch from the wire:

President to stump for Deeds Aug. 6

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – President Barack Obama will cross the Potomac River in two weeks to stump for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh (Cree) Deeds. The Deeds campaign announced Thursday the president will come to northern Virginia for an Aug. 6 rally and fundraiser for Deeds at a McLean hotel.
A week ago, Vice President Joe Biden headlined a fundraiser in Richmond for Deeds.
Deeds and Republican Bob McDonnell are competing in one of only two governors’ races in the nation. The races in Virginia and New Jersey are an early test of Obama’s job approval. In Virginia, it’s also a test of whether the Republicans can rebound from historic losses a year ago.

The question now is, will this be the only time Mr. Obama comes to the Commonwealth in support of Deeds? Much could depend on the state of the race and the popularity of the President. Stay tuned.
