McAuliffe makes TV buy in Richmond
Democratic candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe continues to dip into his hefty war chest by placing a television ad buy here in Richmond. This buy comes in addition to a series of TV buys in other markets in the Commonwealth and a few radio buys across Virginia as well.
The spot shows the former DNC chair in unmistakable Richmond locations and him talking about issues specific to Central Virginia. (ie: Circuit City, VCU).
McAuliffe’s team said they cannot disclose the amount of the buy, which is probably small, but still more than any of this other opponents. There is a school of thought that McAuliffe is going to spend big in the early going, in an effort to scare off one or both of his primary opponents (Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds).
Whether they blink or not (and there is no indication they plan to) this type of spending this early, has to be welcome news to Republican Bob McDonnell who, because of his resignation on February 20th, will now will have an extra week to raise cash and wait for one of these Democrats to emerge from the fight.
