Cantor job fair draws thousands- Democrats attack

with 2 comments

As expected, thousands of people showed up Tuesday at Deep Run High School for a job fair hosted by Richmond Congressman Eric Cantor. This is the third job fair hosted by Cantor, the 2nd most powerful Republican in the House of Representatives.

Cantor’s involvement in the event drew swift and heavy criticism from Democrats who accused him of co-opting businesses that benefited from federal stimulus dollars  for the event, despite his opposition to the plan.

Democrats calculated the total amount of taxpayer dollars provided to these employers at $50 million.

Andy Jenks covered the story for NBC12. You can read and watch his complete report here.

  1. So, I click on the link to view comments to the article about Democrats attacking Eric Cantor for sponsoring a job fair in Richmond and an ad appears for Tom Perriello, a Democrat, stating that he is the hardest working man in congress creating jobs for central Virginia, with a link to his campaign website. Perhaps I missed it, but when did Mr. Perriello sponsor a job fair in Richmond?
And who designed the NBC12 website? It has to be one of the worst on the internet. The double scroll bars needed to navigate the Cantor article is a real pain. You can hire another weather forecaster, but you don’t have the money to pay a good web designer? By the way, isn’t it about time that you fixed the interactive radar link on your weather page?

  2. Why are Democrats attacking a job fair? Is it because these are private companies? What’s going on here? If Democrats want my vote come November they need to get their act together and stop attacking those that are trying to help.
The interesting thing is they attack companies that are hiring and claim its because of Federal dollars that allow them to do that. Then attack Cantor because he voted against these funds and yet not one Democrat has stepped up to the plate and really tried to help. As an Independent I look at results and all I see are a bunch of politicians voting our tax dollars away and expecting all to be right with the world. Take a guess who is showing up pretty high on my sh@# list…
