Cantor talks “Young Guns” Thursday on First at 4

He is the second most powerful Republican in the House of Representatives and now he is also an author. Richmond Congressman Eric Cantor joins me today on NBC12 First at 4 to talk about his just released book “Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders

Cantor wrote the book with fellow Republican House leaders Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). The three are the point men on an aggressive GOP effort to recruit candidates across the country in an effort for their party to capture control of the House of Representatives.  Young Guns outlines their effort and introduces readers to some of the party’s rising stars.

As with any political book, this particular effort comes with its share of controversy. Some of Cantor’s detractors have used the book as an example of his unbridled ambition. An ambition that may push him to challenge John Boehner as Speaker of The House, if the Republicans take back the house. It was something the current Minority Leader joked about at a party Tuesday night in Washington D.C.

Democrats have called the book a contradiction. First they say that Cantor, Ryan and McCarthy aren’t “young” and they say their ideas are just new ways to describe old failed conservative policies.

We will ask Cantor about the book today (Thursday) on NBC12 First at 4.

First at 4 can be seen at 4pm  on NBC12-TV and streamed live on NBC12.com.

Cantor will host a book signing for Young Guns this evening (Thursday) at 7:30 at the Barnes & Noble at Libbie Place.  (5501 West Broad Street Richmond, VA 23230)
