Surging Cain visits Richmond Saturday

If recent polls are any indication he could be in 2nd place in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. Businessman Herman Cain will headline this weekend’s fundraiser for the powerful Virginia conservative group, The Family Foundation.

Cain’s plain spoken proposals and impressive life story have given him a second look by Republican primary voters unsure about the leading crop of candidates. He recently won a series of surprising straw polls and two national polls have showed him ahead or tied with Texas Governor Rick Perry and surging. Both trail former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

Cain is also expected to benefit from the final declaration by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie that he will not enter the race.

In an unsettled field, Cain (who has never held elective office) has gone from longshot to serious contender in just a few weeks.

RICHMOND, Va. – The Family Foundation of Virginia’s annual Gala will be held this Saturday, October 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. The keynote speaker for the evening will be entrepreneur and author Herman Cain.
